2008 In Review

JANUARY.....

It snowed a lot in January. On January 15th I voted for Hillary Rodham Clinton for President. The first serious female candidate to almost be the Democrat nominee for President.

FEBRUARY.......

Leading up to her 81st birthday my Grandmother said time and time again that she did not want a party. She just wanted my mom and I to get some KFC and come have it with her and so that is what we did. When my mom told her that her brother would wait for her in Heaven my Grandmother looked at my mother and I and said "I'll wait for you!"

MARCH........

Started off as any other month. A long cold snowing winter started to break. Hillary wasn't doing so hot but she was still holding on. Political newcomer Barack Obama was starting to give her a run for her money. On March 25th My world was changed forever. Without warning, my Grandmother died peacefully in her sleep.

APRIL.........

I Met my father and two of my sisters for the first time. Not what I ever expected at all. I also spent a few days with Debbie down in Indiana. I needed some time away for a while after Grandmas passing.

MAY....

I celebrated my Birthday on beautiful Mackinac Island. I got to see some great people like, Charlene, Toni, Sherri, and Chaffe. Thanks to them for making the day/night very memorable.

JUNE......

Ok, So I finally started to give in to the fact that Hillary was not going to be the Democrat nominee. This Barack Obama guy seemed to have it wrapped up. I pulled the Hillary sticker off the car and started to move on. This was also the month I talked to George and Annie Braidwood for the first time.

JULY.....

I spent the first 4th of July in 6 years with my MOM! We bonded a lot this year after Grandma passed. It was nice spending the 4th with her watching fireworks from the back of her pickup truck.

AUGUST........

Fair Time!!!! Had a good time at the fair. Went to Lansing with Ryan Temple to see Barack Obama give his Energy policy speech. Jon Wilson was defeated in a major upset by Deana Finegan in the Republican primary for Sheriff.

September......

Soon after Barack Obama selected Joe Biden as his running mate my Mom and I drove to Battle Creek to see see them speak at a baseball field on a very hot summer evening. I don't think I have ever seen my mom so excited before, and for that I was very happy and excited myself.

October.....

I know this whole going to see Barack Obama thing might be getting a bit excessive but this is History we are making here. So on the last stop in Michigan on October 6th in East Lansing I got to shake the hand of the next president of the United states. I don't think I have ever been more excited in my life. I didn't know if I should laugh cry or scream so I just stood there in awe and said nothing at all. He was right there in my face. WOW! Amazing.

November....

Change came to America! Finally! After many months of hard work by many people the Democrats had an amazing night! George Braidwood became the first Democrat Sheriff in Shiawassee. We picked up a road commission seat and the Drain commissioner seat. All but one of the candidates I voted for won.

December......

We know what this month brings. The Holidays. We held on to traditions by having oyster stew on Christmas eve just like my Grandma would. found out my Grandpa has skin cancer on his lip. Rang in the New year at Kathleen McGuckin's house and played apples to apples.

2009 and beyond.

This year is gonna start off rocky. Many questions in my own life are left unanswered. I think I will be looking back at 2009 calling it one of the best or one of the worst years of my life because it has a lot of potential to go either way. Here is to making it the BEST!!!!
