Proud of my fellow Democrats!

I have to be honest real quick, this whole election season I have found myself more emotional than usual. Uttering the words YES WE CAN with several thousand other people just might cause a tear to slide down my cheek. Its very moving when I stand at the door of an 85 year old lady who says 'I'm not voting for your guy because he is too young and I know he may not be too young to you but if you were my age you would understand.' And then through a simple conversation of my own personal story of why I support Barack Obama and I remind them how young Bill Clinton and John Kennedy were. I don't hide from them the fact that I voted for McCain 8 years ago because he offered something very different from Bush and now supports him 90% of the time, and I don't hide that I supported Hillary in the primary and then I hear them say 'I may vote for Barack' or 'I really don't want someone who supports Bush as much as McCain does' or "We need change in our country"

But the emotion was running deep last night as I sat in the C.O Brown Stadium in Battle Creek, Michigan last night I watched as the United States Army walked out on the field. (I believe they were assisting law enforcement with crowd control.) The crowd spotted them walking on the field and immediately got on their feet and erupted in applause. You hear the Republicans on T.V talking about how unpatriotic democrats are. You hear them say we don't support our troops. You hear them say we are a bunch of peacenicks who just don't get it. With all that in the back of my head at the time I saw the troops take the field, as I rose to my feet with the rest of the crowd to applaud them a tear rolled down my cheek and I have to tell you I have never been more proud to be a Democrat before.

We have come a long way baby! Its been 8 long years of GWB and company. This has been a long campaign season starting a year and a half ago. A crowded feild of Democrats and Republicans fighting to the end and now two great men remain. One says our economy is fine while the other realizes the plight of people whose homes are being forclosed. One says we could stay in Iraq while the other realizes its time to start bringing our troops out of Iraq, finish up business in Afghanistan and then get them home. One supports age old failed healthcare plans while the other realizes healthcare is not a privlidge for the wealthy but a right for all. One supports Bush 90% of the time while the other realizes how out of touch GWB is with the American people. One is John McCain the other is The voice of America, Barack Obama!
